Our History

Our journey began in 2016 with the founding of Mohawk Contracting & Development, created to provide high-quality general contracting services. From the start, the company focused on delivering exceptional construction solutions, building a strong reputation for its commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

 

In 2021, Mohawk Contracting & Development expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Semmel Excavating, adding excavation and site utility services to its portfolio. Semmel Excavating has been a reputable company in the Lehigh Valley since 1945, providing top tier services. This strategic move not only strengthened our construction management services but also allowed us to provide self-performing capabilities, enhancing our control over project quality, timelines, and costs.

 

The dream continued in 2023 with the addition of Engelman Construction, a leading provider of concrete services for large-scale commercial projects. Their services have been prominent in the Valley since 1985 and continue to hold a great reputation. This acquisition broadened our scope, allowing us to offer a more diverse range of services, including foundations, slab work, curbs, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant ramps.

The Mohawk Group continued its growth by forming Mohawk Hauling in early 2024. This division serves the hauling needs of our subsidiary companies while also providing outside hauling services, ensuring seamless logistics and broadening the scope of operations.

 

With all companies united by a shared commitment to quality work, the Mohawk Group was officially formed to serve as the management base for these growing businesses. The creation of the Mohawk Group marks a new chapter, where we leverage the combined strength of our companies to provide enhanced coordination, resources, and leadership across all projects, ensuring exceptional results for our clients.
